Grade: 6 Subject: Comprehension Sub-Topic: The Food Web Age: 11 years old Ability: Mixed Number of students: 7 girls and 5 boys Duration of lesson: 45 minutes Approach: Technology Integration Materials: Computer Previous Knowledge: Students know what a food chain is. Objectives: Learners should be able to: • Individually use 5 minutes to read the passage in the classroom via internet. • Use 5 minutes to accurately retell the main idea of the passage to the class. • Use 30 minutes to answer correctly 90% of the questions related to the passage by using a word document.
Introduction: Teacher will use 10 minutes to show a documentary on the food chain of animals in a forest. Procedure: Step 1: The teacher will review the last lesson with the learners. Step 2: The objectives of the current lesson will be discussed with the learners. Step 3: The teacher will also discuss with students the video that they viewed- and the students will then be instructed to visit the school’s website to read a comprehension passage on the Food Web. Step 4: Some of the students will be identified to retell the main idea of the passage to the class. Application: All of the students will then use a word document to type their answers to questions related to the passage. Closure: The teacher will discuss the answers with the students to verify accuracy.
