Social Studies process: Encourage students to explore how people around the world get from one place to another.
Introduction: Have students look at a video and listen to a song about the different means of transportation around the world. The teacher ensures that the students listen closely as the song and video is being played. Students will be presented with an activity sheet where they would identify the different means of transportation used in the song/video.

Step one:
Explain to students that as mentioned in the song, there are many different types of transportations throughout the world. Have students give these different means of transportation used in the song and write them on the board, have students read these together.
Step two: To introduce the different types of transportation to the class the teacher will present the students with pictures and probe them to find where these items move in order for transportation to take place.
Example: Airplane – Air
Boat – Sea
Bus - Land
Step three: Explain to the class that these are also examples of transportation used around the world. Present students with other pictures where the different means of transportation are used around the world and explain to students where these are used.
Step four: Students will be asked to explain if they were ever in a different country and the different means of transportation used while they were there. Write their responses on the chalkboard.
Closure: Present students with a chart and have students place the different means of transportation used around the world under the correct type.
Application: Look at the picture and name the means of transportation used.
Name the means of transportation in the pictures.
