Objectives: Children should be able to:
• Knowledge: add numbers from 0-5
• Skills: recall numbers from 0-5
• Attitude: appreciate the use of numbers to make a sub-total of two numbers
• Instructional Materials: lollipops, wooden blocks, teddy bears
Previous Knowledge: Children are exposed to numbers 1-10
Introduction: Teacher will have two special visitors to perform a puppet show to demonstrate addition with teddy bears.
Developmental Activities:
Place students in groups of two
Distribute materials to each group to demonstrate these examples:
1. 1+0=1
2. 2+2=4
3. 2+3=5
Teacher would have students demonstrate their findings for their problem given.
Closure: Teacher will re-cap the main points of the lesson by have students define addition and explain how it is done.
Question: what is addition?
Expected response: addition is putting two sets of numbers together and then counting them to get a total.
Competency task: Teacher will have students complete a worksheet individually.
