Sub-topic: Subtracting of Tenths
Grade: 3
No. of Pupils: 25
No. of Boys: 10
No: of Girls: 15
Age 8-9
Time: 45 minutes
Objectives: Students should be able to:
Solve tenths problems through subtraction

Write several subtraction problems on flash cards and ask each group a question one, by one until each group had a turn in answering the questions. For example: 11-2 = 9, 0.4 – 0.2 = 0.2
Step 4
Have them return to their seats and do some of subtraction problems on their own. Allow them ten minutes to complete 20 problems. On completion select a few students to do several to do the problem on the board and ask him or her to explain their findings.
Step 5
Ask the students to draw subtraction pictures. Example 7-3 = 4 OOOOOOO
Closure:
Ask the students what is another name for subtraction (take away or minus) Ask several students individually to recap the lesson.
Step 6
Have students make up 10 worded problems involving subtraction and solve them.
