Objectives: By the end of the lesson students should be able to :
1 .Use appropriate vocabulary to describe the texture of objects.
2. Classify objects under the headings of hard or soft.
Content:
1. Using the words hard and soft to describe texture of objects.
2. Classifying objects that are hard or soft.
Previous Knowledge: Students are familiar with descriptive words.
Instructional Materials: Bathroom tissue, stones, feathers, pieces of papers, wash cloth, piece of board, chalk and computer.
Introduction: Students will watch a video on a laptop explaining objects that are hard and soft in texture.
Step 1. Give students objects to manipulate . Elicit from the students the words that should be used to describe the way something feels. ( its texture)
Step 2. Ask the students to choose objects of different textures, then tell the class how the objects feel. For example the bathroom tissue feels soft.
Step 3. Present the students with a chart lableled hard and soft. Have the students classify the objects in the table correctly.
Step 4. Elicit from students other objects found in the home. in school and in the classroom that are hard/soft.
Closure: Show objects to students and let them state whether the objects are hard/soft aloud.
Application: Students will be given an activity to complete in which they would have to circle the objects that do not belong:
For example : Cotton, sponge, pencil
bottle, chalk, paper
