-list the 2D shapes accurately
-identify examples of 2D shapes
-use white board and match 2D shapes to their names
Illustrative Materials:
Charts, flash-cards, shapes, white board, worksheets
Previous Knowledge:
Students are familiar with shapes.
Introduction
Students will sing the 2D shapes song.
Developing Activities
Step 1
Teacher will present students with a few objects that have different shapes. Teacher would elicit from students the shape that each object resembles. Students’ responses will be written on the board.
Step 2
Teacher would explain to students that the words listed on the and the different shapes presented have a special name. Teacher would elicit from students the special name given to these shapes. Expected response: “2D shapes.”
Step 3
Teacher would then students list any other examples of shapes that resemble the 2D shapes. Individual students will then be asked to use the smart board and match 2D shapes to their correct names.
Closure
With the use of a chart students will be asked to read the definition of 2D shapes and say the examples out loud.
