Objectives: Students should be able to:
State what they think connect us to the world.
Work in groups and identify the objects that connect us to the world.
Demonstrate how we use technology to connect us to the world.
Illustrative Materials: flash cards, pictures, radio, telephone, computer, letters, ipod, television, newspaper.
Previous Knowledge: Students would have done this topic in kindergarten and previous lessons that was also done on the topic in grade 2.
Introduction: Teacher will join along with students and sing the song "He's got the whole world in his hand".
Development:
Step 1
Through discussion teacher will inform students about the topic and discuss with them the things that connect us to the world.
Step 2
Students will be placed into groups to go on a technology hunt to find pictures of the things that connect us to the world in the classroom. In their groups students will try to explain to the class how does each one work.
Step 3
Teacher would then present students with radio, television, ipod etc, as mentioned in the materials above and talk about each one.
Step 4
Students will them be taken to the computer lab and teacher will demonstrate to students how we communicate to others around the world via internet. Students will all get a chance to send an email to teacher.
Closure: Using the pictures students will make a chart for the class. " Things that connect us to the world"
