Topic: Time on the hour
Objectives: At the end of the lesson students should be able to:
- Know the elements of a clock and explain their functions
- Tell time to the hour
- Point out the hour hand and the minute hand
- Tell time to the hour with 80% accuracy.
Previous Knowledge: Students know what clocks are used for.
Instructional materials: Chart showing the diagram of a clock, Poem, Nursery Rhyme.
Introduction: Teacher will begin by reciting the poem ‘the clock’ to the students. Teacher will also ask students to recite the poem ‘ Hickory thingyory Duck’.
Development: Teacher will introduce a diagram of the clock to students and ask them if they are aware about what the figure is showing to them.
Step 2: Teacher will show students the difference between the hour and the minute hand (The minute hand is the long hand and the hour hand is the short hand).
Step 3: Teacher will call on students to come to the chalkboard individually in order to show different times.
Closure: teacher will close off by having students recite the nursery rhyme ‘Hickory thingyory Duck’ one last time. Teacher will also review the minute and hour hand with students.
Application: Students will be given seatwork where the teacher will print pictures of clocks in their notebooks and they will be asked to show the following times.

- 6 o’ clock
- 4 o’ clock
- 7 o' clock
