Illustrative Material: Pictures of the story, video clip, computer, projector, apron and bag with stones.
Introduction: Present a video clip of a hen to the class. Have children identify the animal by name. Write the name of the animal on the board next to a picture of it. Have children talk freely about their experiences with a hen. (whether they have seen or play with one etc). The same will be done for the fox. Elicit from students what they think the story will be about.(Viewing, speaking)
Developing Activities
Step One: Inform students by telling them the title of the story. Teacher will stop at key points and have them predict what will happen next to the fox and the little red hen in the story. ( speaking).
Step Two: Students will be encouraged to listen to the story so they can compare their outcome to what will really happen in the story. Teacher will use props and pictures and different voice intonation and bodily movement to help enhance the story while it is read. (Listening)
Step Three: Through questioning, discuss the details of the story that was read. Children will now compare what they said earlier about the story and what was actually said to see if they were correct or incorrect. Elicit from students what they would have done if they were either the fox or little Red Hen. (Speaking)
Closure: Students will share their favourite or least favourite part of the story.
Application: Draw a picture of the Fox and the Little Red hen and write their name under each picture. (Visually represent).
