Objectives: Students should be able to:
*identify the national flag
*describe the national flag
*correctly colour the national flag
Materials: Computer, national flag, small individual
flags and riddle
Introduction
Teacher will read the following riddle:
I am the colour of most trees. What colour am I?
I am bright like the sun. What colour am I?
I appear when there is no lights. What colour am I?
I am the colour of the fluffy clouds in the sky. What colour am
I?
When I get cut what colour I see?
Answers will be recorded.
Step 1
Present several flags from various countries. Allow students to identify the flag with all the colours mention in the riddle.
Step 2
Teacher would take out the flag and place it on the board. Distribute individual flags. Allow students to name the flag.
Step 3
Using the riddle as the guide allow students to name the colours of the flag and say what each colour represents. Allow students to state some ways in which they can show respect to their flag.
Closure
Students will sing the National Anthem to show respect to their flag.
Application
Have students go on the computer into Microsoft Word where they would have a blank picture of the national flag to colour.
